Teams in SMTPfast: shared workspaces, roles, and invites

Bring your teammates and clients into one workspace. Shared domains, contacts, and API keys, with roles that keep billing and member management where they belong.

Sending email is rarely a solo job for long. A founder wires up the first domain and API key, then a teammate needs to ship a broadcast, a contractor manages the contact list, and someone in finance wants to own the invoices. Until now that meant sharing one login. Teams fix that.

A team in SMTPfast is a workspace. It has its own domains, API keys, contacts, forms, broadcasts, suppression list, and sending logs, and its own set of members. You can belong to several teams and switch between them from the top of the sidebar, the same way you would switch projects.

What a team owns

Everything that used to hang off your account now hangs off the team you are working in:

  • Domains: verify a domain once and every member can send from it.
  • API keys: a key belongs to the team, so a member's key sends on the team's behalf and shows up in the team's logs.
  • Contacts, segments, and suppressions: one shared audience and one shared suppression list, so a bounce a teammate saw yesterday won't be re-sent to today.
  • Broadcasts, forms, and emails: created in the team, visible to the team.

Switching teams re-scopes the whole dashboard. The emails, metrics, and contacts you see are always the ones for the team you are currently in.

Roles

Three roles cover the common cases, from most to least access:

Role Can do
Owner Everything, including billing, deleting the team, and changing anyone's role
Admin Invite and remove members, manage domains, keys, forms, and sending
Member Send email and use the team's resources, but not manage members or billing

An Admin can manage Members and other Admins, but only an Owner can touch billing or remove another Owner. A team always keeps at least one Owner, so you can't accidentally lock a team out of its own settings.

Inviting people

From Settings → Team, invite someone by email and pick their role. They get a link, and when they accept they land straight in the team. If they don't have an account yet, the link walks them through creating one with the invited address, then drops them in. Invitations expire after seven days, and you can revoke a pending one at any time.

When to use more than one team

One team is plenty for most people. Reach for a second when you want a clean wall between two efforts:

  • An agency running sending for separate clients, each with its own domains and audience.
  • A company keeping product email and marketing email on different reputations.
  • A side project you don't want mixed into your main account's logs.

Collaboration is a paid feature: free accounts get one personal workspace, and inviting teammates or spinning up additional teams is part of a paid plan. Each plan includes a set number of teams.

Getting started

If you already have an account, you already have a team. It's the personal workspace you have been using, now with the door open for others. Head to Settings → Team, send an invite, and you're collaborating.

Teams are billed as part of your plan today, all your teams share it. If you're an agency that needs each client team billed separately, that's on the roadmap; reach out and tell us about your setup so we build the right thing.
