About SMTPfast

SMTPfast is a transactional email platform for developers: an API and SMTP relay that teams use to send the email their products depend on, with deliverability they can see and debug. We are a small team that ships fast, measures everything, and publishes how we build.

What you will do

  • Own the sending infrastructure end to end: API servers, queues and background workers, Postgres, and the pipeline that moves an accepted request to a delivered message.
  • Keep the platform boringly reliable. You will design for graceful degradation, run capacity planning ahead of customer growth, and treat every incident as material for the next improvement.
  • Build the observability that deliverability depends on: bounce and feedback loops, reputation monitoring, alerting that catches problems before senders do.
  • Harden the platform against abuse. Shared infrastructure means one bad sender can hurt everyone; you will work on the systems that keep bad traffic out and good mail flowing.
  • Automate yourself out of toil. Infrastructure as code, reproducible environments, deploys that nobody has to babysit.

What we look for

  • Strong production experience with Linux, Docker, and at least one cloud provider.
  • Real Postgres operating experience: you have tuned queries, survived a migration, and have opinions about connection pooling.
  • Comfort owning services in production, including the on-call that comes with meaning it.
  • Bias for shipping small and measuring, over designing big and hoping.
  • Bonus: you have run mail infrastructure, or you are the person who understands SPF, DKIM, and DMARC on your current team.

How we work

Remote, async-first, small team, short feedback loops. You will talk directly to customers when it helps, and your work ships under your own name in our engineering posts if you want it to.

How to apply

Email [email protected] with a short note about the most interesting production problem you have solved, and links to anything public you are proud of (GitHub, writing, talks). No cover letter needed.
