Data Retention
How long we keep the content of your sent emails.
What the 30-day window covers
The window applies to one thing: the rendered body, meaning the HTML and plain text your recipient received. Thirty days after an email is sent, that content is removed. This is the same on every plan.
It does not apply to the email's record. Everything below stays with your account, so analytics, exports and the logs API keep working across any date range:
| Kept | Removed after 30 days |
|---|---|
| Subject, sender, recipients | The HTML body |
| Delivery status and error messages | The plain-text body |
| Sent, delivered, opened, clicked, bounced and complained timestamps | — |
| Open and click counters | — |
| The full event timeline | — |
How you can tell
An email whose content has been removed is not the same as an email sent without a body, and we do not show them the same way. The dashboard, the share link and the admin view all say the content was removed and on what date.
The API is explicit about it too. body_cleared_at is null while the content is still there, and carries a timestamp once it has gone:
{
"id": "e_8f2a...",
"subject": "Your receipt",
"html": null,
"text": null,
"body_cleared_at": "2026-08-15T09:12:44.000Z",
"status": "delivered",
"delivered_at": "2026-07-16T08:41:02.000Z",
"opened_at": "2026-07-16T09:03:55.000Z"
}Why we do this
A broadcast to a thousand recipients stores a thousand near-identical copies of the same body. Keeping them indefinitely costs storage that does you no good, and holds your recipients' content for longer than either of us needs it.
If you need the content for longer
Keep your own copy at send time, or capture it from a webhook. Removal is permanent: we cannot restore a body once the window has passed, and there is no way to opt out of it.
